Decision
- Does the Force’s Police and Crime Panel include representatives of local health bodies (in particular Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) or Health and Well-Being Boards (HAWB))? Where your force area contains multiple HAWBs/CCGs how many of these are represented on the panel?
No – no one sits on the panel with any formal links to the above.
- Does the Force’s Police and Crime Panel include members selected for their expertise in (a) drug/substance abuse, (b) alcohol abuse or (c) both?
No – the process by which members are appointed to the panel does not provide for this option.
North Yorkshire Police and Crime Panel has 13 Members, 10 of which are Local Authority Appointees, two are co-opted members (locally, known as “Community Members”) and one is a co-opted elected member (to better meet the balanced appointment objective). The local authorities have agreed that when appointing councillors to the Panel, that as far as reasonably practicable all will appoint a senior elected Member, for example:
- the Council Leader;
- the Executive / Cabinet member with responsibility for community safety; or
- the chair of the crime and disorder committee.
The Community Members were appointed after an open selection process when the Panel ensured that, as far as is reasonably practicable, the appointed and co-opted members together have the skills, knowledge and experience necessary for the Panel to discharge its functions effectively.
- How much did the Force spend on drug intervention projects (or equivalent schemes) in 2012/13 and 2013/14?
The information is not held for the period 2012/13.
In 2013/14 the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner have spent the following amounts
North Yorkshire County Council | £159,412 |
City of York Council | £76,421 |
- How much funding has been allocated for drug intervention projects (or equivalent schemes) in 2014/15?.
North Yorkshire Police and the Office of Police & Crime Commissioner will continue to support our local authority public health partners to fund their substance misuse contracts. The funding has yet to be finalised but is anticipated to be similar to the 2013/14 funding.
