  1. How many of the police officers in your force area work on the operational frontline? How many were on the operational frontline on January 1st 2012?
  2. How many police stations have closed in your area since you took office?
  3. Could you provide details of how often Home Office ministers have made an official visit to you in your capacity as Police and Crime Commissioner? Specifically, I would like to know the date of the visit, who the minister was, and what was the official purpose of that visit.

Extent and Result of Searches to Locate Information

To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).

  1. Please see the table below which illustrates the count of police officers who worked in operational & operational support roles, on 01 January 2016 as compared to 01 January 2012;

    When the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) took up office the number of officers stood at 1,392. The Police Authority aimed to reduce Police Officer numbers in North Yorkshire from 1,392 to 1,270, however this decision was subsequently overturned by the PCC and Chief Constable.

    North Yorkshire Police are to launch a two year recruitment drive designed to boost Police Officer numbers to 1400. The plan also includes the aim to increase the numbers of Police Community Support Officers from 183 to 200. Please follow the hyperlink below to see the published article;

  3. Zero. There have been no Home Office Ministerial visits to the Police and Crime Commissioner in her capacity as Police and Crime Commissioner.

    The Police and Crime Commissioner does however meet Ministers from various Government Departments from time to time in the course of her work.
