The Commissioner has decided to appoint Tim Forber as the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police. This decision has been confirmed by the Police, Fire and Crime Panel for North Yorkshire and York.

Background

On Thursday 11th January 2024, the Commissioner proposed Tim Forber to the Police, Fire and Crime Panel as her preferred candidate for Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police after a robust recruitment process.

The Panel confirmed at that meeting their support for Tim Forber as Chief Constable.

The Commissioner duly appoints Tim Forber as the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, on the terms and conditions advertised.

Financial and Commercial

The Commissioner’s Chief Finance Officer and S151 Officer has advised that the proposed Terms and Conditions for the appointment of the Chief Constable are as per the Police Regulations and reflect the flexibility available to the Commissioner to pay up to 10% above the ‘spot rate’ for the role of the Chief Constable within North Yorkshire. There are no further issues of a financial nature to bring to the attention of the Police & Crime Commissioner in making this decision.
